At Kyiv Central Railway Station, a platform is planned to be raised to allow passengers to board trains without using steps, Ukrzaliznytsia has said.
The work will initially be carried out on the second platform only. At present, the platform is around 20 cm high, but after the upgrade it will be raised to 110 cm, so it will be level with train carriage doors.
Improved access to the platform is also planned from the passage between the Central and Southern station buildings. Passengers will be able to reach it by lift or escalator.
This upgrade is primarily important for people who use wheelchairs, parents with prams, older passengers, and anyone travelling with luggage.
