Over 2 billion hryvnias in additional aid have been provided to Ukrainian pensioners

In Ukraine, the implementation of a crucial program supporting pensioners affected by the conflict continues. Thanks to the joint efforts of the World Food Programme (WFP), the Ministry of Social Policy, and the Pension Fund of Ukraine, over 2 billion hryvnias have been provided to Ukrainian pensioners.

The program was launched in August 2023 to offer financial support to those in greatest need. In collaboration with the Pension Fund of Ukraine and WFP, international humanitarian organizations’ resources have been pooled to provide financial assistance.

To date, more than 470,000 Ukrainian pensioners have received payments from the World Food Programme totaling 2.01 billion hryvnias. The program has been extended until the end of December 2024, allowing even more people to receive the necessary support.

Assistance is provided to pensioners who:

  • Receive a pension of less than 3,250 hryvnias
  • Reside in areas where active or potential combat actions are taking place
  • Have not received additional cash payments from international organizations or housing assistance for internally displaced persons since March 1, 2023.

There is no need to apply specifically for the additional payment. WFP allocates funds to pensioners based on information from the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s databases.

We have also reported that UNOPS is launching a Youth Engagement Platform.
