In 2025, 302,260 sole proprietors in Ukraine officially employed over 817,000 people. On average, one entrepreneur with hired employees provides jobs for around three workers. This is according to data from Opendatabot.
Around 14% of sole proprietors in Ukraine hire employees and thus create jobs.
The highest number of entrepreneurs with hired workers is registered in:
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 27,491;
- Lviv region – 27,275;
- Kyiv – 25,782.
The most significant increase in the number of such sole proprietors was recorded in Rivne region, where the figure rose by 22%. It is followed by:
- Kyiv region – +20%;
- Volyn region – +19%;
- Chernivtsi region – +18%;
- Ivano-Frankivsk region – +16%.
In terms of the number of hired employees, Lviv region leads with 74,648 people. It is followed by Dnipropetrovsk region with 71,983 employees, and Kyiv with 70,272 employees.
Overall in 2025, sole proprietors in Ukraine provided employment for more than 2.9 million Ukrainians. Of these, around 2.1 million worked as self-employed, while over 817,000 were employed as hired workers.
