As of early April 2026, 1,723 cultural heritage sites and 2,524 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged or destroyed in Ukraine due to Russian attacks.
Among them, 159 sites are of national significance, 1,403 – local, and 161 – recently identified. A total of 45 heritage sites have been completely destroyed.
Damage has been recorded in 18 regions, with the highest numbers in:
- Kharkiv – 349;
- Kherson – 302;
- Odesa – 200;
- Donetsk – 195;
- Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv – 173.
Additionally, 2,524 cultural infrastructure facilities were affected by Russian shelling, including 518 that were completely destroyed. The most affected regions are:
- Donetsk;
- Kharkiv;
- Kherson;
- Sumy;
- Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions.
Damaged facilities include 1,245 clubs, 872 libraries, 191 art education institutions, 139 museums and galleries, 52 theatres, cinemas and philharmonics, 11 parks and zoos, 9 nature reserves, 4 circuses, and a film studio in Kyiv.
Destruction has been recorded in 341 communities across Ukraine, with the highest numbers in Donetsk – 46, Sumy – 38, Kharkiv – 34, Chernihiv – 34, Zaporizhzhia – 31, Mykolaiv – 23, Dnipropetrovsk – 23, Kyiv – 21, and Luhansk – 12 regions.
The Ministry of Culture noted that due to the temporary occupation of almost all of Luhansk and parts of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson regions, it is impossible to accurately count the number of affected cultural facilities.
