On the night of 6 April, Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Odesa. Numerous hits were recorded in different parts of the city, causing large-scale fires as well as damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles, the State Emergency Service reported.

According to preliminary information, three people were killed in the attack. Among them were a 30-year-old woman, her 2.5-year-old daughter, and a 53-year-old woman.

At least 15 people were injured to varying degrees, with 13 hospitalised. Some of the wounded are in serious condition. Medics report shrapnel wounds, burns, injuries, and smoke inhalation.

Among the injured are a pregnant woman and two children – a 7-month-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. The children’s condition is reported as moderate. All those affected are receiving the necessary medical care.

Despite repeated air raid alerts, rescuers managed to extinguish all fires.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and people may still be trapped under the rubble. Canine units have been deployed to assist in the search.

The DSNS, together with the city authorities, has set up a “point of resilience” and an operational headquarters to assist those affected. Psychologists from the DSNS and the National Police are also on site providing support.

Information on the total number of casualties and the extent of the damage is still being confirmed.
