The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Ministry of Education and Science’s initiative to use remaining funds and financial support from the UN World Food Programme to provide meals for primary school students in border and frontline regions during the 2025–2026 academic year.
Over UAH 59.5 million has been allocated for the implementation of this initiative.
The support will be provided to:
- Dnipropetrovsk;
- Zaporizhzhia;
- Mykolaiv;
- Odesa;
- Sumy;
- Kharkiv;
- Kherson and Chernihiv regions.
The funds will ensure students receive free hot meals, reduce the financial burden on local budgets, and support communities in regions located near the frontline and the border with Russia.
The decision was made taking into account the agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science and the UN World Food Programme, as well as the results of the relevant commission meeting on the allocation of funds for education and science.
