Ukrzaliznytsia will receive over 50 units of equipment from the EU for the repair and restoration of railway infrastructure

On 31 March, Ukrzaliznytsia received a new aid package from the European Union.

The equipment was delivered by an EU delegation led by High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

The event was also attended by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Balesta, and the Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertsovsky.

Through the EU’s Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), Ukraine received 23 units of equipment, including vehicles and generators.

An additional 25+ units will be provided, including:

  • dump trucks;
  • excavators;
  • lorries.

The equipment will accelerate the repair and restoration of damaged railway sections and infrastructure, while the generators will provide power to signalling posts and other railway systems during blackouts.

Additionally, under the Team Europe initiative, Germany delivered 18 vehicles to Ukrzaliznytsia with a total value of €600,000.

All equipment will be distributed among Ukrzaliznytsia’s divisions and deployed where it is most needed to ensure uninterrupted passenger and freight transport.
