Freelance journalists can apply for a grant of up to €20,000 to create their own investigative report, which may be published by European media outlets.
The material can cover any relevant topic, from human rights to anti-corruption. The grant covers all production costs, except for the purchase of equipment.
To participate, applicants need a partner from an EU country, and the project duration is set at six months.
Journalists will receive mentorship support, consultations from legal and communication experts, training sessions and workshops, as well as opportunities to network with colleagues and experts from across the EU.
The programme is aimed at journalists who have professional experience, strong investigative ideas, and a cross-border team of freelance colleagues who will also work on the investigation.
Participants must also have a bank account that can receive international transfers from the EU.
The application deadline is 13 April.
The programme is implemented by the International Press Institute with the support of the European Journalism Centre and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.
