On 26 March in Valencia, before the start of the match between the national teams of Ukraine and Sweden, 13 children of Ukraine’s Heroes walked onto the field alongside players from both teams, becoming part of the official pre-match escort.
The initiative was carried out by the Ukrainian Red Cross in cooperation with the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of Football, with the support of the Swedish Red Cross.
The event took place within the framework of the social project “My Country – My Team,” which brings together the military, society, and the sporting community to support the families of defenders.
We aim for these children and their families to feel the care, attention, and support of society. Such initiatives help give children important moments of joy while also expressing gratitude to those who gave the most – their lives for our country.

The Ukrainian Red Cross organised the delegation’s trip to Spain, provided escort, and ensured safe and comfortable conditions for the children abroad.
Supporting the families of fallen soldiers remains one of the organisation’s key priorities.
