The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for providing a subsidy from the state budget to local budgets to equip educational institutions with fire protection.
The total funding amounts to UAH 500 million and will be used to install:
- fire alarms;
- warning and evacuation systems;
- firefighting equipment;
- fire water supply systems and lightning protection.
Priority for funding will be given to military and military-sports lyceums, institutions with enhanced military-physical training, educational and rehabilitation centres, and special schools. Support will then be extended to general secondary schools with at least 200 students.
Project selection and the formation of the list of institutions will be carried out by regional state administrations and the Kyiv City Administration.
To receive the subsidy, institutions must:
- operate in full-time or blended formats;
- be located in communities with a defined safety level;
- have no critical damage or already be restored.
Confirmation of the condition of the facilities in state registers, the presence of design and estimate documentation, and guarantees of the institution’s functioning are also required.
Projects must be completed within the current fiscal year, and local budgets are required to provide co-financing.
The amount of state support depends on the financial capacity of the community and may cover 70–95% of the project cost, with the remainder funded by local budgets.
