The Verkhovna Rada has exempted owners of destroyed housing from paying utility bills

Key points

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the second reading a law that provides for exempting certain owners of damaged and destroyed housing from paying utility bills.

The decision was supported by 308 members of parliament.

The document stipulates that utility payments will not be charged to owners of housing that has become completely uninhabitable due to damage or destruction.

If the property can be restored, utility charges will not apply for the period during which it is not suitable for living.

The law will remain in force for the entire duration of martial law and for one year after its termination or cancellation.
