A Russian FPV drone struck the last car of a commuter train traveling on the Slatine–Kharkiv route. The strike occurred while the train was at the station.

Immediately after the danger signal, the train crew and most passengers quickly moved to a modular shelter deployed directly at the Slatine station. It was these swift actions and the presence of the protective structure that helped prevent a significantly higher number of casualties among the people who were at the epicenter of the events.

Law enforcement officials confirmed the death of a 61-year-old passenger. According to preliminary investigation data, the man refused to evacuate to the shelter and remained at the site of the strike. In addition, the electric train driver and his assistant sustained injuries of varying severity. Medical personnel are providing the injured railway workers with necessary assistance.

Despite constant shelling and high risks, rail service to frontline communities in the Kharkiv region continues to operate. Railway officials emphasize the importance of adhering to safety protocols and immediately following staff instructions during air raid alerts. Every shelter deployed at stations is designed to save lives, but the effectiveness of these measures depends on the responsibility of each passenger.
