In Lviv, a compensation programme has been introduced to support housing adaptations for veterans with disabilities of groups I and II. The relevant decision was approved at a meeting of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council, with the participation of city authorities and the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The initiative provides reimbursement of up to 400,000 UAH for creating barrier-free conditions in veterans’ homes, including the installation of ramps, widening of doorways, and the arrangement of accessible bathrooms.
Programme funding is shared: half of the amount is covered by the city, while the other half is provided by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Such adaptations aim to enable independent mobility, reduce reliance on assistance, and create more comfortable everyday living conditions for veterans following injuries.
Applications for participation in the programme can be submitted through the Administrative Service Centres or social protection authorities prior to the start of the works.
