Over 30,000 Ukrainians Have Submitted Marriage Registration Applications via Diia

For over a year, couples in Ukraine have been able to submit marriage registration applications through the Diia portal. Since the launch of this service, more than 30,000 couples have already taken advantage of the opportunity to do this online. This service allows engaged couples to save time for themselves and wedding preparations, as they can choose the location, time, and format of the ceremony in less than 15 minutes. Remember, any Ukrainian citizen aged 18 and over with an electronic signature can submit an application.

How to Submit an Application:

  1. Log in to the Diia portal.
  2. Click on Services — Family — Marriage Application.
  3. Fill out the application and select ceremony details.
  4. Send the application to your partner for them to complete their personal details, pay the administrative fee, and sign with an electronic signature.
  5. The application will be returned to you. You also need to sign it with Diia.Sign or another digital signature.

The remote application process significantly simplifies the procedure, minimizing the physical presence of applicants in civil registration departments (DRACS), which increases convenience for couples. The DRACS department will process the submitted application within one working day of receipt. After completing the verification and processing of the application, couples will receive official confirmation of its acceptance and further registration, allowing them to quickly move on to planning and organizing their wedding ceremony according to their chosen parameters.

Full digitalization of the marriage registration process is planned, which will involve moving all stages of the procedure to an electronic format. We continue to support the implementation of digital solutions that enhance government services and improve the quality of electronic services in the social sector.

We have previously reported that UNDP has launched a new project to support Ukraine’s recovery and sustainable development.
