The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has updated the list of medicines and medical devices eligible for reimbursement under the state “Affordable Medicines” programme.
The relevant order comes into force on 31 March, and from April patients will gain access to an expanded list of medicines.
The “Affordable Medicines” programme is part of the state reimbursement policy, allowing Ukrainians to receive essential medicines free of charge or with partial co-payment via an electronic prescription.
The update provides for the addition of 37 new medicines in various dosages. These include medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and respiratory conditions, which are among the most common chronic illnesses.
Following the update, the total number of items in the programme reaches 748, including:
- 621 medicines;
- 59 insulin preparations;
- 32 combination medicines;
- 36 types of medical devices, including glucose meter test strips.
Programme funding in 2026 has increased by 1.8 billion UAH, reaching 8.7 billion UAH, compared to 6.9 billion UAH in 2025. This enables more Ukrainians to receive the necessary medicines free of charge or with partial co-payment.
Since the beginning of 2026, more than 1.5 million people have used the programme, and the number of redeemed prescriptions has exceeded 3.5 million.
