In 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to repair over 1,000 kilometres of railway tracks across Ukraine.

With the start of the spring-summer period, railway workers are beginning the season of planned track maintenance.

Repairs are scheduled in all regions of the country, including frontline areas and key logistics routes.

Preparations for the season began in winter. By the start of the works, around 150 kilometres of track and over 120 sets of turnouts were ready. This allows works to start more quickly across different sections and minimises restrictions on train movement.

The railway connects Ukrainian communities every day and transports cargo, supporting the economy. That is why we are planning large-scale track works to ensure train operations remain stable and safe, even under the most challenging conditions.

– Oleksiy Balesta, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Due to the destruction and occupation of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, the only domestic rail manufacturer, international suppliers are providing the rails for infrastructure renewal.

Rails are supplied by companies from Austria, Poland, France, Japan, the Czech Republic, and China.
