More than 2,200 servicemen, veterans and female veterans in Ukraine have received free medical services for eye examinations and vision treatment as part of the project “Restoring Sight to the Defenders of Ukraine”.
Within the project, doctors have carried out:
- 149 lens replacement surgeries;
- 244 laser vision correction procedures;
- 178 plastic and other surgical interventions.
The programme includes comprehensive ophthalmological diagnostics, laser and surgical procedures, modern treatment of scars, reconstruction of tissues around the eyes and plastic surgery following injuries.
The initiative is aimed at military personnel and veterans who lost or experienced deterioration of their vision during combat or military service.
The services are available to combat veterans, people with disabilities caused by the war, as well as those discharged from service due to health conditions, including eye injuries or diseases. Assistance can also be provided in cases where the relevant certificate has not yet been issued or is still being processed.
The initiative is implemented with the support of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, the International Charitable Foundation ICF “Contribution to Medicine Development”, and the clinics “Vasyl Shevchyk Eye Microsurgery”.
Medical services are available at clinics in Chernihiv, Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.
