On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered protective clothing and firefighting equipment to the local voluntary fire brigade (VFB) in the village of Krasnosilka, Odesa region. The team became the first and currently the only all-female fire brigade in Ukraine, with 12 women volunteers.
The provided protective clothing and equipment will enable the team to carry out their tasks safely and respond more quickly to emergencies.
At a time when many men are defending Ukraine on the front lines, Ukrainian women are increasingly taking on new roles in their communities, including becoming volunteer firefighters.

The handover was organised with the participation of the Department of Civil Protection and Civil-Military Cooperation of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with the Odesa Regional Organisation of the Red Cross, and with support from the British Red Cross.
