The team of the Ukrainian Red Cross evacuated elderly residents from the frontline city of Kherson. In one day, three crews of the organisation’s Rapid Response Unit in Kherson region transported 11 people aged between 64 and 88.
Among those evacuated were people from groups with reduced mobility, as well as individuals with mental health conditions who required additional assistance during the journey. The trip lasted almost 10 hours. All passengers safely reached a more secure location.
During the evacuation, volunteers accompanied the evacuees throughout the entire route, assisted them with movement, monitored their health condition and provided psychological support.
The crews of the Ukrainian Red Cross Rapid Response Unit work around the clock, carrying out humanitarian missions and helping people who require evacuation, medical or psychological assistance.
