The Ukrainian project “PlayFrame: Boosting Animation & Gamedev in Ukraine” will receive funding from the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity in the amount of $99,438.
This decision was made during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 17-20 February. The project was submitted to the competition by the non-governmental organisation LINOLEUM.
“PlayFrame” aims to develop the animation, game development, and VFX/CGI sectors in Ukraine.
The team will conduct national mapping and industry research, create a digital platform for the professional community, organise training and promotional programmes, and establish cooperation between various industry participants.
The programme will last two years and will cover at least 200 Ukrainian specialists, including women, young people and people who have been forced to leave their homes due to the war.
The International Fund for Cultural Diversity operates under the 2005 UNESCO Convention and supports projects that help develop cultural and creative industries, bring professionals together and create new opportunities for the creation and dissemination of cultural products.
The Ministry of Culture noted that Ukraine, as a state party to the Convention, makes voluntary contributions to the Fund every year. This allows Ukrainian institutions and non-governmental organisations to submit projects and receive international support.
