The First National Forum of Volunteer Councils is being held in Lutsk, bringing together representatives of volunteer communities from all over Ukraine, as well as state and international partners to develop joint solutions for the development of the volunteer sector. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.
During the event, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Ulyutin emphasised that since 2014, the volunteer movement has demonstrated the power of self-organisation within Ukrainian society and its readiness to respond to challenges during the most difficult times.
Volunteers are people who don’t need to be told why they should help. They are people who can come together in a second and do what the state cannot manage to do in time. One of the reasons why we have gathered here today is to bring together scattered elements into one huge force.
– Denis Ulyutin.
According to him, the state and volunteers must form a common vision for the further development of the volunteer movement. A significant part of the issues at the legislative and coordination levels require joint decisions and constant interaction.
Special attention will also be paid to protecting the families of deceased volunteers.
One of the key elements that we need to work on together is protecting the families of volunteers who have died. These issues must be incorporated into the overall volunteer movement system.
– Denys Ulyutin.
During the forum, a programme for the development of volunteering in Ukraine and the creation of a Volunteer Council under the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity was presented, which will coordinate the activities and support of the volunteer sector at the national level.
