Russia struck a Ukrzaliznytsia commuter train in Dnipropetrovsk region – what is known

Key points

In the Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian drone attacked a suburban train operated by Ukrzaliznytsia while it was in motion. As a result of the strike, one person was killed and several others were injured. Emergency services are working at the scene.

According to preliminary information, one person died in an ambulance on the way to hospital. Another individual sustained serious injuries. Up to five passengers suffered cuts of varying severity. Other people who were in the carriage are being examined by medical staff.

Following the impact, the locomotive crew carried out an emergency stop of the train and eliminated the smoke. Passengers were evacuated from the carriages and provided with first aid.

Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as well as railway workers and a paramedic from the nearest stations and depots, promptly arrived at the scene.

The injured are being transported to medical facilities with the assistance of the State Emergency Service for further treatment. Arrangements are currently being made to transport all passengers.
