In Ternopil, instructors from the Ukrainian Red Cross (URC) conducted a first aid training session for people with disabilities.
The event was held as part of programmes aimed at increasing public awareness of how to act in emergency situations and at developing basic life-saving skills.
During the training, participants learned the algorithms of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, methods of controlling bleeding, the recovery position and other practical actions that may prove crucial in the first minutes after an injury or a sudden deterioration in health.
The Ukrainian Red Cross notes that its training sessions are tailored to specific audiences and delivered in an inclusive format.
Training materials are prepared in plain language, supplemented with visual explanations and sign language interpretation. The training venues are physically accessible, and various participant needs are taken into account during preparation. Practical skills are presented in an adapted format, while the pace and structure of the sessions are adjusted according to the group’s capabilities.
