The Dnipropetrovsk region became the venue for the nationwide dialogue “Together Towards Solutions”, dedicated to supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs). Representatives of the Government, the State Employment Service and the Pension Fund took part in the event. The main focus was on developing practical mechanisms to assist the region, which has received more than 470,000 registered IDPs since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Tetiana Kiriienko stressed that expanding the social housing stock and arranging temporary accommodation facilities is a state priority.
According to her, a significant proportion of displaced people in the region are families with children, including nearly 90,000 minors. During working visits to the regions, the ministry records citizens’ appeals and needs in order to reflect them in future legislative initiatives.
As part of her visit to the Dnipropetrovsk region, Kiriienko visited a transit centre for families with children evacuated from combat zones. The centre provides temporary accommodation, assistance with documentation, as well as clothing and hygiene supplies.
From November 2024 to January 2025, the shelter accommodated around 6,000 families.
Kiriienko noted that this model of support for families with children gives people confidence in having a safe place and assistance available, which encourages them to leave dangerous areas.
The Deputy Minister also visited temporary accommodation facilities for IDPs.
The ministry reported that in 2026, UAH 1.5 billion have been allocated under a state subvention programme to equip such locations.
