In Druzhkivka, Donetsk region, the police unit “White Angels”, together with volunteers, carried out an operation to rescue an abandoned Alabai from an area under constant shelling.
The dog, whose owners had left him behind while evacuating to a safer place, was found by local residents. They sought assistance from volunteers of the charitable foundation “12 Guardians”.
According to residents, a neighbour had untied the dog and left him in the yard. The disoriented animal fell into a pit and was unable to climb out on its own.
The Alabai was located in one of the most dangerous parts of the city, so a crew from the “White Angel” unit responded to the call together with animal welfare volunteers. The officers used an armoured vehicle and special equipment to reach the animal safely.
The dog was in critical condition due to exhaustion and severe stress. After administering a sedative, rescuers carefully lifted him out of the pit, warmed him up and evacuated him to a safe location.
The rescued Alabai was named Yasha. He is currently under veterinary supervision. During the initial examination, veterinarians diagnosed exhaustion, dehydration, signs of frostbite and prolonged starvation.
Yasha is now in need of a new family that will be able to provide him with proper care and attention.
