Nearly 100 families of civilians considered missing have received one-off financial assistance totalling more than UAH 2 million. The programme was implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross with the support of the British Red Cross.
The initiative ran from August to December 2025 and was aimed at the most socio-economically vulnerable families.
Families who, between August 2024 and July 2025, submitted a tracing request to the Ukrainian Red Cross or the International Committee of the Red Cross and underwent a needs assessment were eligible to take part in the programme.
The financial assistance covered basic household expenses as well as additional costs related to the search for a missing person, including:
- travel;
- document processing;
- legal consultations.
For many families, this support provided an opportunity to partially stabilise their financial situation and focus on the search.
