  • The government has added 78 monuments of national importance in the Ternopil region to the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
  • The register now includes more than 34,000 objects, of which almost 2,650 are of national importance.
  • Among the new objects are historical and sacred buildings in the region.
  • The updated register will help protect cultural heritage and identify sites that are not subject to privatisation.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, has included 78 nationally significant heritage sites in the Ternopil region in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.

The register has been updated with cultural heritage sites from the Ternopil, Kremenets and Chortkiv districts. Among them are:

  • The Dominican Monastery Church in Ternopil, an example of late Baroque architecture of the 18th century (1749–1779);
  • The Bernardine Church in Berezhany, built in the 17th century as part of a monastic complex and distinguished by its monumentality and defensive features;
  • The complex of buildings of the Carmelite Monastery in Terebovlia, constructed in 1635 on the site of a former wooden monastery;
  • The Basilian Monastery in Buchach, which was one of the main centres of Basilian icon painters in the 18th and early 19th centuries.

According to the Ministry, the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine already contains more than 34,000 sites, nearly 2,650 of which have national status.

Updating the register helps preserve historical memory and strengthen the legal protection of heritage sites, many of which were previously listed in outdated Soviet-era inventories.

Based on the updated register, the list of monuments that are not subject to privatisation will also be reviewed.
