LIFE 2021-2027 Program: Grants for Ukrainian Communities

The U-LEAD program continues to assist Ukrainian communities in finding additional resources and opportunities for development. U-LEAD reports that the LIFE 2021-2027 program from the European Commission is available to Ukrainian applicants, even though Ukraine is not yet a member of the European Union. The program aims to restore and improve the quality of environmental components, implement environmental protection measures, and combat climate change.

The support program is aimed at projects focused on environmental restoration, climate change mitigation, and the transition to a circular economy. It includes four main subprograms:

  • Nature and Biodiversity Protection
  • Circular Economy and Quality of Life
  • Climate Change Mitigation
  • Transition to Clean Energy

The total budget for the LIFE Program for 2021-2027 is €5.4 billion, with €3.5 billion allocated for environmental projects and €1.9 billion for climate actions.

Participants in the program can include:

  • Legal entities of any ownership form from EU countries, Iceland, Ukraine, Moldova, and North Macedonia;
  • Local authorities;
  • Central and regional executive authorities;
  • State, municipal, or private profit-making or non-profit institutions;
  • Non-governmental organizations.

We have previously mentioned that registration is now open for the conference on cultural heritage in Ukraine.
