On 19 February, an interactive map of Ukraine was installed at the “Zoloti Vorota” metro station in Kyiv. The social project “Map of Dreams: Ukraine” was implemented by Kyiv Metro in partnership with the Ukrainian brand Enjoy The Wood.
The project was dedicated to the Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine and the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Visitors to the station can mark on the map a city or town connected to their personal story – a place of birth, residence, or a dream of returning home after the war.
Blue-and-yellow stickers are available next to the installation, and visitors can leave their mark until 30 March 2026.
The Kyiv City State Administration explained that the location was chosen symbolically. In the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, around 40,000 people from different regions sheltered in Kyiv’s underground stations. Today, the metro carries hundreds of thousands of passengers daily, and during air raid alerts its stations serve as shelters for tens of thousands of residents.
For the Enjoy The Wood team, the symbolic point on the map is Borodianka in the Kyiv region – the town where the brand’s production facility operated until 2022 and was destroyed as a result of hostilities.
Our point on the “Map of Dreams: Ukraine” is Borodianka. It was the home of our company, a space into which we invested years of work, strength and belief. In 2022, the war took this place from us, but it did not take away the most important thing – our dream of returning. We want to rebuild everything exactly where it all began for us.
– Ihor Fostenko, co-founder of Enjoy The Wood.
