Registration trends after 2022
In 2021, 73 business entities were registered under the main economic activity code 58.11. 2022 brought a sharp decline to 43 registrations. By 2023, the number of new players had grown to 83, and by 2024 — to 87. In 2025, 117 registrations were recorded, which was the highest figure for the observation period.
After the decline at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the sector not only recovered but also demonstrated more active creation of new businesses. The revival indicates the market’s adaptation to wartime conditions, changes in demand, and increased interest in local content.

Geography of the publishing business
As of mid-February 2026, the highest concentration of entities with economic activity code 58.11 is in Kyiv, with 218. The capital remains the key centre of publishing activity. The Kharkiv region has 43 companies, Lviv has 38, Dnipropetrovsk has 13, and Ivano-Frankivsk has 12.
In some regions, the number of publishing houses is minimal. There is one entity in each of the Mykolaiv and Donetsk regions, and two in the Poltava region. The Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, and Zhytomyr regions have three registered companies each. This structure demonstrates a significant regional concentration of the market, with several centres dominating.
