UNDP to allocate $230 million for energy equipment for Ukraine

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has approved the allocation of an additional $230 million for the urgent procurement of energy equipment for Ukraine.

The funding came in response to a request from Ukraine’s diplomatic mission in New York. The Ukrainian side submitted a list of priority needs for the restoration of damaged energy facilities.

UNDP and Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Andrii Melnyk, agreed on the supply and installation of the following equipment:

  • cogeneration units;
  • gas turbine equipment;
  • transformers;
  • compressor stations;
  • modular boiler houses.

The equipment is to be delivered to Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kremenchuk, Lviv, Lutsk, Shostka and other cities.

One of the key projects is the installation of a 54 MW gas turbine unit at the Kremenchuk combined heat and power plant, valued at $24 million.

The plan also предусматриes the deployment of cogeneration units: in Kyiv – 25 MW worth $20 million, in Odesa – 40 MW worth $20 million, in Zaporizhzhia – 16.2 MW and 20 MW with a total value of $8 million and in Mykolaiv – 9.8 MW worth $5.5 million.
