Five Ukrainian children aged between 4 and 15 have been returned to Ukraine from temporarily occupied territories and the Russian Federation. This was announced by the Ukrainian Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets.
The return was carried out within the framework of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, with the involvement of the non-governmental organisation Save Ukraine.

Among those returned is a seven-year-old boy who was deported by Russian forces from a local children’s home during the occupation of Kherson. His mother contacted the Office of the Ombudsman seeking assistance in bringing her son back.
Two other children – a four-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl – were also taken from the Kherson children’s home. For four years, they remained in deportation and were unable to see their mother.
A nine-year-old boy was also returned. He had ended up in Russia with his mother, who later died from a serious illness. After her death, the child’s grandfather attempted to bring him back, but without success. The boy has now returned to Ukraine and reunited with his uncle.
According to the Office of the Ombudsman, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 1,985 Ukrainian children have been brought back to Ukraine.
