East SOS and Ukrzaliznytsia evacuated people from frontline towns in Donetsk region

One child and 24 adults were evacuated from Druzhkivka, Lyman, Kramatorsk and Serhiivka in Donetsk region, where they had been living under constant intense shelling.

The targeted evacuation from high-risk areas was carried out by the charitable foundation East SOS in cooperation with its partners.

The evacuees were first taken to transit centres, where they received legal, psychological and logistical support. They were then transported to the railway stations in Lozova and Dnipro.

Further travel to safer regions was arranged by Ukrzaliznytsia. Passengers were transported free of charge to Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava and Khust. People with limited mobility were assisted with boarding and received support during the journey.

In the cities of arrival, the evacuees were met by volunteers and representatives of the regional administrations. They were provided with accommodation in safe conditions.

The evacuation efforts are coordinated by the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, the State Emergency Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, local communities and international partners.
