The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate UAH 3 billion for the creation of modern educational spaces in general education schools as part of the New Ukrainian School reform. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In 2026, the subsidy funds will be distributed among several areas, in particular:

  • UAH 1.3 billion – for gymnasiums. Funding is provided for the creation of modern educational spaces in institutions that will not provide specialised secondary education from the 2027/2028 academic year. The funds will be used to purchase educational equipment, computer and multimedia technology, furniture for physics, chemistry and biology classrooms, and to set up STEM laboratories and art spaces.
  • UAH 1.2 billion will be allocated to pilot lyceums for the reform of senior specialised schools. The funding will be used to equip laboratories in the natural sciences – physics, chemistry, biology – as well as STEM laboratories. The aim is to ensure a high-quality educational process and prepare institutions for the full implementation of specialised senior schools. For lyceums operating remotely, particularly in frontline regions, there is the possibility of purchasing tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, graphics tablets, licensed software, electronic resources and e-literature.
  • UAH 500 million will be allocated to the “Defence of Ukraine” centres. The funds will be used to create and equip specialised premises for teaching the subject “Defence of Ukraine” in schools and inter-school resource centres.

The funds can be used to purchase furniture, educational and laboratory equipment, as well as computer and multimedia technology.

From the beginning of 2026, we are changing our approach from selective re-equipping of schools to the comprehensive creation of educational spaces.

– Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

The key conditions for receiving the subsidy are as follows:

  • it will be provided on the basis of co-financing from local budgets;
  • applicants must ensure the ongoing or major repair of the premises where the equipment is to be installed;
  • all purchases will be made in accordance with the rules of the Ukraine Facility, ensuring transparency of procedures and public accountability.
