Key points

The European Union has transferred 500 generators to Kyiv to ensure stable heat and water supply in wartime. This was reported by the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

Another 234 generators were delivered to the capital, so Kyiv received the full amount of the planned shipment – 500 units of equipment.

Of these, 438 generators have a capacity of 23 kW, and another 62 have a capacity of 27 kW. The total installed capacity of the transferred equipment is about 12 MW.

The generators will be distributed among residential buildings where power outages cause problems with heating and water supply. They will power individual heating units, water and sewage pumps, allowing basic utilities to be maintained.

The generators were transferred from the EU’s strategic civil protection reserve, rescEU, through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) at the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO).
