The Lviv National Philharmonic has launched Ukraine’s first stage lift for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
This expands access to cultural spaces for both visitors and employees of the philharmonic, including veterans who have returned to professional activity after injuries and rehabilitation.
The project was implemented as part of the Comprehensive Programme for the Development of Culture in Lviv Region.

The philharmonic hall has also been equipped with an inclusive sanitary and hygiene room, new handrails have been installed, and the approach to the stage has been updated. For people with hearing impairments, a modern audio system has been introduced that transmits sound directly to visitors’ personal devices.
Visitors can use a QR code to listen to the concert on their own smartphones. If necessary, the venue provides smartphones and special headphones that can be used with hearing aids. There is also a button to call staff for those who need help accessing the hall.
According to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, last year, more than 1.8 million hryvnias were allocated from the regional budget to create a barrier-free space in the philharmonic hall.
In 2026, they plan to renovate the flooring in the foyer and in front of the entrance, installing special carpet covering and tactile markers for people with visual impairments.
The philharmonic also plans to apply for a grant of 30,000 euros to set up special seats in the hall next to the central aisle so that visitors in wheelchairs can sit next to other spectators.
