The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in the second reading bill No. 14144, which proposes to introduce a daily nationwide minute of silence at 9:00 a.m. throughout the country.
The bill provides that state and local authorities will have official permission to use the national warning system to announce the beginning and end of the minute of silence every day at 9:00 a.m.
At this time, citizens will honor the memory of military personnel, volunteers, medics, rescuers, journalists, volunteers, and civilians who died as a result of the war.
Two hundred sixty members of parliament voted in favor of the document. The law will come into force the day after its official publication.
The second reading also included a provision for an annual nationwide minute of silence and a “Light a Candle” campaign on the fourth Saturday of November at 4 p.m. to honor the victims of the 1932-1933 Holodomor.
