- do not stand under eaves where icicles have formed and avoid walking directly under icy roofs;
- if you need to walk under such a place, assess the level of icing and quickly pass the dangerous area;
- keep a distance of at least 3-4 meters from building walls, especially where warning tapes are installed;
- if you hear a suspicious noise from above, do not stop or look up, but press yourself against the wall, as the roof canopy can partially protect you from falling ice or snow;
- do not leave cars close to buildings.
Rescuers pay special attention to the safety of children. When walking with toddlers in sleds or strollers, it is important not to leave them unattended and to avoid places where icicles and snow may fall from roofs.
Adults are also advised to remind children of the dangers of playing under eaves during thaws.
