In the Cherkasy region, employees of the State Civil Registry Service will undergo training in the basics of sign language and barrier-free communication with visitors.
The relevant agreements were formalised in a memorandum of cooperation between the State Civil Registry Service department of the Cherkasy region, the Kyiv Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Cherkasy Regional Council’s municipal institution “Cherkasy Training and Rehabilitation Centre ’Kraina Dobra‘”.
State Civil Registry Service employees will learn basic sign language phrases, the ethics of communicating with people with hearing and speech impairments, and will use digital solutions to adapt services to the needs of different groups of citizens.
As part of the memorandum, the parties agreed on the formats of practical classes and further cooperation aimed at improving the accessibility of public services in the field of civil registration.
This is expected to improve the quality of service and reduce language barriers when obtaining documents.
