On February 6, a local dog shelter, “Give Me Your Paw, Friend,” was damaged in Zaporizhzhia as a result of Russian shelling. This was reported by the secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council and acting mayor, Regina Kharchenko.
The shock wave and debris damaged the infrastructure of the facility, where stray animals were kept. As a result of the attack, a shelter employee was injured, eight dogs were killed, and more than 20 animals were injured.
The shelter also noted that due to damage to the fences, some of the dogs ran away from the territory.
Currently, utility workers, rescuers, and volunteers are clearing debris from the territory and transporting the injured animals to veterinary clinics, where they are receiving the necessary care.
