A free online course has been launched in Ukraine for teachers who work with children undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in the midst of full-scale war.
The educational programme “How to Teach Superheroes 2.0” was created for teachers who teach children in hospital wards – between medical procedures, rehabilitation and air raid sirens.
The course was developed by the non-governmental organisation “Little Heart with Art” in collaboration with the educational platform EdEra.
The programme is adapted to the realities of war, traumatic experiences and constant uncertainty faced by both children and teachers.
The training focuses on practical and real-life situations faced by teachers:
- conducting lessons in the ward;
- supporting children in crisis situations;
- communicating with families about loss;
- working with traumatic experiences and preserving a sense of childhood for the child during treatment.
The programme covers 14 topics and includes practical tools, checklists and examples.
The course materials were prepared by experts in the field of education and child support, including the founder of the Superhero School, Yevheniia Smirnova, Olena Zelenska, and TV presenter, curator of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine and chair of the board of trustees of the Superhero School, Nataliia Moseychuk.
The online course is free of charge and lasts 20 academic hours. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate worth 0.7 ECTS credits.
The first module will be available soon, and the course is scheduled to start on 9 February. Registration is open at this link.
