The staff of the Kyiv City Blood Centre have appealed to the residents of the capital to replenish the blood bank, as the need for donated blood remains consistently high. Blood is needed every day to save wounded soldiers and perform emergency operations on civilian patients.
The centre notes that one blood donation can save up to three lives, so donor participation is important for the smooth operation of medical facilities.
Kyiv residents are invited to donate blood on weekdays at centres on the right and left banks of the city:
- on the right bank, donors are accepted at 12 Maksym Berlinsky Street, near the Dorogozhychi metro station, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 15:00;
- on the left bank, blood can be donated at 1 Alisher Navoi Avenue, in the dental clinic, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 14:00.
Doctors also remind you of the basic rules for preparing for donation:
- You must have your passport and identification code or the Dіia app with you.
- Refrain from drinking alcohol 48 hours before donating blood, and refrain from eating fatty, fried and dairy foods 24 hours before donating blood.
- On the day of donation, it is important to have breakfast, for example, porridge with sweet tea or biscuits, and get a good night’s sleep the day before.
