The Ministry of Internal Affairs increases the number of heating points after night shelling and problems with heat supply

After the massive shelling of critical infrastructure on the night of 3 January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is increasing the number of heating points and personnel involved in responding to the consequences of the attacks. This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko.

It is known that as a result of the night strikes, at least 12 people were injured in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Kyiv regions, as well as in Kyiv.

Among the victims are two rescuers who were caught in repeated shelling in the Kharkiv region. All victims are receiving medical assistance.

The biggest problems with heat supply are reported in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro. Combined teams, including climbers and engineering units, have been involved in dealing with the aftermath of the shelling.

In Kyiv, specialists from the State Emergency Service’s energy unit are connecting social and critical infrastructure facilities to powerful generators.

Currently, 118 State Emergency Service heating tents are operating in 84 locations in the capital. Another 79 points are being prepared for deployment, including 8 tent cities planned for the Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

In addition, heat guns are being installed at heating stations. At the same time, additional aid stations are being set up in Kharkiv, where special equipment and specialists from other regions are being sent.

The 112 hotline continues to receive reports of lack of heat, electricity and water throughout the country. Operators have already processed about 70,000 calls.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that work to eliminate the consequences of shelling and support the population is continuing uninterrupted, and forces and resources will be increased until the situation stabilises.
