On 3 February 2026, during a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Russian troops damaged the Hall of Fame of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II, located at the foot of the Motherland Monument. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
The blast wave caused significant damage to the building. Museum specialists, police and technical services are working on site, inspecting the area, recording the damage and assessing the extent of the damage.
Based on the results of the inspection, a decision will be made on the scope of restoration work.




Deputy Minister of Culture Ivan Verbytsky noted that the primary task is to ensure the safety of the space, fully document the consequences of the attack, and prepare for the restoration of the memorial.
According to the Ministry of Culture, this is the second case of damage to the museum due to Russian attacks on the capital.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed more than 1,680 cultural heritage sites and thousands of cultural infrastructure facilities. We are working on their restoration together with international partners.
