Ukraine Bets on Green Energy: Government Approves Plan Through 2030

The state is actively preparing for the winter period, focusing efforts on implementing government programs for the development of decentralized generation and increasing the share of renewable energy. As reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, on August 13, the government decided to introduce pilot auctions for allocating quotas to support renewable energy producers.

“We are talking about solar, wind, biogas energy, as well as micro and small hydroelectric power plants. We are testing the ‘green’ auction system to fully launch it in 2025,” said Denys Shmyhal, noting that this is part of our Energy Strategy and the path to EU membership.

According to the Prime Minister, potential investors will receive guaranteed support, which will accelerate the implementation of renewable energy projects. This, in turn, will reduce the overall power deficit in the energy grid.

The government has also approved the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy through 2030 and the action plan for its implementation.

“The document is closely aligned with European norms and standards. It aims to increase the share of ‘green’ energy in gross final consumption to 27% by 2030,” highlighted the Prime Minister.

Denys Shmyhal added that the Plan includes 38 measures, performance indicators, and assigns responsibilities.

We previously reported that the first meeting of the Restoration Council of the NDSH Okhmatdyt took place.
