The state provides financial compensation for the conversion of passenger cars for use by persons with disabilities or limitations in their daily functioning. The compensation covers the costs of adapting the vehicle to the individual needs of the driver and current technical requirements.
Persons with disabilities whose driving licence contains special codes for vehicle adaptation, as well as owners of converted vehicles that meet the established standards, are eligible for compensation. Applications must be submitted within three months of the date of state registration of the converted vehicle.
A repeat application is possible in the event of new codes being added to the driver’s licence, loss of the vehicle due to hostilities or theft, and no earlier than seven years after the previous compensation was received — for another car.
Applications are accepted by the territorial branches of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, regardless of the applicant’s place of registration. Documents can be submitted in paper form or online — through the social web portal of electronic services of the Ministry of Social Policy or the “Dія” portal, if technically available.
To apply for compensation, you must provide documents proving your identity and identification number, a driver’s licence with the appropriate codes, a vehicle registration certificate with a note of conversion, as well as confirmation of actual expenses — receipts, certificates of work performed or other financial documents.
The decision to grant or deny compensation is made within three working days. Funds are transferred within ten working days after receipt. Compensation is paid from the state budget programme, taking into account the order in which applications are submitted.
