The Kyiv City Council has registered a draft decision that would allow private establishments to independently determine the rules for people with pets visiting their premises. The initiative applies to shops, pharmacies, cafes, service establishments, and other businesses open to visitors.
The proposed approach allows owners of establishments to permit or prohibit entry with animals at their discretion, as well as to establish internal rules for staying with dogs or cats. This is not about mandatory admission of animals, but about the right of businesses to make such decisions independently within the framework of city regulations.
The initiative is designed to simplify everyday situations for pet owners, particularly when out walking and needing to pop into a shop or pharmacy. At the same time, it opens up the opportunity for businesses to gain an additional competitive advantage by attracting customers who travel around the city with their pets.
The project also stipulates that establishments that allow pets will be able to determine the conditions for such visits themselves, taking into account safety, sanitary standards and the comfort of other visitors. The initiators emphasise the importance of clear and understandable rules that will reduce the number of conflicts.
