The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 2.5 billion from the state budget reserve fund to purchase generators for local communities. The decision was made at an extraordinary government meeting in view of the need to ensure stable heat and electricity supply in the regions.
The allocated funds will be used to purchase mobile heat and electricity generation equipment in the short term. These are generators that can quickly support the operation of critical infrastructure and social facilities in communities during periods of peak loads or power outages.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Vitaly Kindrativ noted that one of the key tasks of the state is to ensure people’s access to heat and light. According to him, the government is working to ensure that the purchased equipment is delivered directly to local communities as quickly as possible.
It is expected that centralised procurement will speed up the delivery of generators and ensure their even distribution among communities in accordance with urgent needs.
