Vinnytsia Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers, RECOVERY, Expands Its Capabilities

The innovative RECOVERY Rehabilitation Center for wounded soldiers in Vinnytsia is expanding its medical and rehabilitation capabilities. As part of this expansion, 12 new inpatient beds have been added at one of the region’s leading medical facilities, and additional spaces have been opened in the rehabilitation area.

The Vinnytsia Rehabilitation Center was established by Viktor and Olena Pinchuk as part of the national RECOVERY network, which was founded to support the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine. Since it’s launch, more than 1,600 Ukrainian defenders have received free rehabilitation services here.

The RECOVERY Rehabilitation Center in Vinnytsia meets international standards of technological advancement and inclusivity. Its physical rehabilitation rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR) equipment, allowing interaction with patients. The complex of exercise machines and rehabilitation devices provides therapy for various functional impairments, including those resulting from mine-related injuries, and supports high-tech recovery for the wounded.

12 beds have been equipped with multifunctional electric beds, along with furniture designed for the comfort and convenience of patients. The medical and rehabilitation area includes an examination room, an occupational therapy office, a psychologist’s office, a physical therapy hall, and the center director’s office.

Thanks to the RECOVERY project, the Vinnytsia center has been enhanced with new rehabilitation equipment.

  • This includes:
  • a ceiling lift for walking training in the ward;
  • a stabilometric platform for improving balance and coordination;
  • an upper limb rehabilitation system using virtual reality and patient feedback;
  • a device for passive ankle joint development and equipment for the occupational therapy office.

It is worth noting that, as of now, 13 RECOVERY rehabilitation centers provide free services in Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Lutsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa (two facilities), and Dnipropetrovsk region (three facilities). In total, 13,000 patients have received rehabilitation assistance at the national network centers. The project’s founders plan to expand the network to at least 18 innovative rehabilitation centers by the winter of 2024/2025.

Earlier, we have also reported that Ukraine won 12 medals at the Paris Olympic Games.
