Since the start of the full-scale war, nearly 185,000 people have contacted the Ukrainian Red Cross tracing service regarding missing persons and those in captivity. Requests come from all regions of the country and concern both military personnel and civilians.
A team dedicated to restoring family ties works with families. It accompanies applicants from the moment they submit their application and beyond, maintaining constant contact, assisting with paperwork, interacting with state authorities, and providing psychosocial, humanitarian, and financial assistance. This support is focused on providing long-term assistance to families who are in a state of uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones.
As of now, work has been completed on 3,046 cases. In 2,525 cases, specialists were able to establish the fate of the missing person. In total, 4,414 families from vulnerable categories who needed additional support due to the loss of contact with their relatives received assistance within the framework of the search service.
The search service employs 42 specialists and volunteers. They have held 242 support meetings with families in the regions. Psychosocial assistance remains one of the key areas of work, as families of missing persons often face prolonged emotional stress and strain.
